Respiratory Therapist Travel Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,150–$2,310
- Location: New London, Connecticut
- Assignment Type: 13-week travel respiratory therapy assignment
- Start Date: October 26, 2026
- Schedule: Four 10-hour shifts per week; day shifts from 8:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and mid shifts from 2:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m., based on department needs
- Hours: 40 hours per week
- Weekend and Holiday Coverage: At least every other weekend and every other holiday, based on department needs
- Healthcare Setting: Short-term acute care hospital and Level III trauma center
- Charting: Epic preferred
- Attire: Navy blue scrubs
- Floating: May float to a nearby partner hospital as needed
Certified Respiratory Therapist Job Requirements
- At least 2 years of recent respiratory therapy experience required
- Current Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential required; Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential preferred
- Active Connecticut and Rhode Island respiratory therapy licenses required; one license may be pending if the other is active
- Current BLS certification required
- Recent pediatric respiratory care experience required
- Experience caring for neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients preferred
- Proficiency with Epic or comparable electronic medical record systems preferred
- Ability to support high-risk deliveries and provide respiratory care in acute and critical care environments
- Seasonal influenza vaccination required
Respiratory Therapist Responsibilities
- Assess, monitor, and provide respiratory care for patients across the lifespan
- Manage oxygen therapy, CPAP, BiPAP, nasal CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, tracheostomy collars, T-piece systems, and mechanical ventilation
- Assist with intubation and provide airway support, including oral and nasal airway placement and suctioning
- Collect and interpret arterial blood gases and umbilical blood gases when indicated
- Perform pulmonary hygiene, chest physiotherapy, vest therapy, sputum specimen collection, and respiratory assessments
- Provide respiratory support for pediatric and neonatal patients, including NICU-related care and high-risk deliveries
- Monitor ventilator function, troubleshoot high-pressure alarms, and assist with ventilator weaning
- Provide emergency department and adult critical care respiratory support
- Document respiratory care accurately in the electronic medical record and collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team
- Float to an additional nearby hospital location when department needs require
