Travel Laboratory Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,030–$2,190
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks
- Start Date: November 9, 2026
- Schedule: 5 shifts per week
- Shift Duration: 8-hour evening shifts, approximately 3:00 p.m.–11:30 p.m.
- Hours: 40 hours per week
- Healthcare Setting: On-site hospital clinical laboratory
- Weekend Coverage: Required; approximately 14 weekend shifts during the assignment
- Orientation: 40 hours
- Scheduling: Block scheduling is not available; time-off requests must be submitted with application materials
Medical Technologist and Laboratory Generalist Requirements
- At least 4 years of professional clinical laboratory experience
- Previous hospital laboratory experience required
- Previous travel assignment experience required
- Laboratory Generalist experience in chemistry, hematology, coagulation, and urinalysis
- Strong blood bank experience preferred
- ASCP-MLT certification preferred; candidates with ASCP-MLS or ASCP-MT credentials are also considered
- Valid state license or certification required at the time of submission
- Clinical laboratory charting system experience required
- Ability to complete required compliance documentation, health screening, and Pennsylvania fingerprinting before the assignment begins
Clinical Laboratory Responsibilities
- Perform accurate laboratory testing and result reporting across generalist laboratory departments
- Conduct chemistry testing using automated analyzers, including Beckman Coulter systems
- Perform hematology testing, manual differentials, coagulation studies, and urinalysis
- Complete blood bank procedures, including ABO/Rh testing, antibody screens, crossmatches, direct antiglobulin testing, antigen typing, Rh immune globulin screening, and transfusion reaction workups
- Process, accession, label, prepare, store, and appropriately dispose of clinical specimens
- Operate and maintain laboratory instrumentation such as Beckman Coulter, Stago, Iris, and GEM platforms
- Perform quality control, review QC results, troubleshoot testing concerns, and follow laboratory quality assurance procedures
- Maintain accurate documentation while following patient identification, infection prevention, hazardous materials, and blood product handling standards
- Collaborate with the broader healthcare team to ensure timely and dependable laboratory support for patients ranging from neonates to geriatric adults
