Location: Las Cruces, New Mexico
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Nurse with Emergency Department specialty to provide high-acuity care in a Level IV Trauma emergency service unit. The unit has 20 beds and serves patients of all ages. The role requires flexibility, a positive attitude, and a willingness to teach.


Shift & Hours

  • Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36
  • Weekend Hours: Every Other / As Needed
  • Call Requirements: None
  • Float Requirements: As Needed

Required Certifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)
  • NIH Certification
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
  • Crisis Prevention Intervention Training (CPI)

Required Licensure

  • Registered Nurse License valid in New Mexico

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Emergency Department nursing or related emergency services
  • Preferred experience in ED, Critical Care, or Trauma nursing

Unit & Patient Information

  • Trauma Level: Level IV
  • Patient Ratios:
    • ESI 1, 2, & Horizontal 3s – 4:1
    • ESI Vertical 3s, 4, & 5 – 7:1
  • Electronic Health Record (EHR) system: MedHost
  • Patient Population: All ages (pediatric to geriatric)

Additional Requirements

  • Must be fingerprinted and undergo background check per New Mexico state requirements (14-day waiver possible with supervision while waiting on results)
  • Must have emergency services experience
  • Positive attitude, flexibility, and willingness to teach are important personality traits for this role

Dress Code

  • Scrub color: Any
  • Unacceptable attire: Casual wear, other facility-branded clothing

Notes

  • Orientation occurs weekly on Mondays
  • Candidates must be located 60 miles or more from the facility to qualify as travel staff

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Mexico
  • Minimum 3 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Current certifications in:
    • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
    • Basic Life Support (BLS)
    • Crisis Prevention Intervention Training (CPI)
    • Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC)
    • National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
    • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
    • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
