Registered Nurse - Behavioral Health (Dementia Specialty)

Location: Athens, Tennessee
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Provide nursing care for geriatric patients (50+) with dementia and behavioral disturbances.
Work in a 24-bed behavioral health unit specializing in geriatric care.
Patient ratio approximately 1:7.
No call or float requirements.
Weekly guaranteed hours: 36, including 24 weekend hours.
Electronic Health Record system: Medhost.

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee.
Minimum 1 year of psychiatric nursing experience, with psychiatric experience within the last year.
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) or Healthcare Worker Certification (HWC) or equivalent behavioral crisis management certification.

Preferred Candidate Profile

Experience working with dementia patients exhibiting behavioral disturbances.
Calm demeanor and ability to work well with others.

Work Environment & Dress Code

Facility provides emergency, inpatient, and outpatient services with a focus on behavioral health.
Dress code requires solid color scrubs; facial piercings are not permitted.

Additional Notes

Orientation occurs bi-weekly on Mondays.
Candidates must be located 60 miles or more from the facility to qualify as travel staff.
