Registered Nurse - Behavioral Health (Dementia Specialty)
Location: Athens, Tennessee
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Provide nursing care for geriatric patients (50+) with dementia and behavioral disturbances.
- Work in a 24-bed behavioral health unit specializing in geriatric care.
- Patient ratio approximately 1:7.
- No call or float requirements.
- Weekly guaranteed hours: 36, including 24 weekend hours.
- Electronic Health Record system: Medhost.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee.
- Minimum 1 year of psychiatric nursing experience, with psychiatric experience within the last year.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) or Healthcare Worker Certification (HWC) or equivalent behavioral crisis management certification.
Preferred Candidate Profile
- Experience working with dementia patients exhibiting behavioral disturbances.
- Calm demeanor and ability to work well with others.
Work Environment & Dress Code
- Facility provides emergency, inpatient, and outpatient services with a focus on behavioral health.
- Dress code requires solid color scrubs; facial piercings are not permitted.
Additional Notes
- Orientation occurs bi-weekly on Mondays.
- Candidates must be located 60 miles or more from the facility to qualify as travel staff.
