Registered Nurse - Med Surg (Travel)

Location: Wilson, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

• Travel RN position on Med Surg units (3rd and 5th floors)
• 12-hour shifts, 7am to 7pm
• Guaranteed 36 hours per week
• Weekend shifts every other weekend
• No call requirements
• Float assignments required as a second nurse to Telemetry, Emergency Department, and other units as needed
• Patient population: Adult and Geriatric
• Patient ratios range from 6:1 up to 7:1
• Units have 22 beds each
• Equipment includes Telemetry monitors
• Electronic Health Record system: MEDITECH (experience preferred)

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
• Minimum of 3 years of Med Surg nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• BLS certification
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Experience with MEDITECH Electronic Health Record system

Preferred Qualifications

• Comfortable with surgical patient care, peritoneal dialysis exchanges, placement, and psychiatric patient care

• Orientation sessions held bi-weekly
• Must be able to schedule float assignments to meet unit needs

• Scrub color: any; no unacceptable attire specified

• Close to major universities and coastal areas
• Local candidates must live 60 miles or more away to qualify for travel status
