Travel RN Opportunity - ICU (Level 2)

Location: Marquette, Michigan
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

  • Services include Heart & Vascular Institute, Cancer Center, Brain & Spine, Rehab, Behavioral Health, Digestive Health, Bariatric Medicine & Weight Management, Women's Health, Pediatrics
  • Region's premier imaging, surgery, and laboratory services
  • Located in central Michigan's Upper Peninsula, largest community in the peninsula

Unit Profile

  • Department: ICU (Cost Center 650)
  • Floor: 4th floor
  • Trauma Level: 2
  • Specialty: Level 2 ICU with Open Heart program, Cath lab, Neuro Surgery, Level II Trauma center, CRRT programs
  • Number of Openings: 3 (1 day shift, 2 night shifts)
  • Shift Hours: 12-hour shifts (7am-7pm for days, 7pm-7am for nights)
  • Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours
  • Weekend Hours: Every other weekend
  • Call Requirements: No scheduled call; may be put on call if census drops
  • Float Requirements: Must be willing to float; floating done on rotation with travel nurses

Patient Care & Unit Details

  • Number of Beds: 24
  • Patient Ratios: 1:2 in ICU, 1:3 in IMCU
  • Patient Population: Adult ICU patients
  • Common Diagnoses/Treatments: Post-open heart surgery, heart failure, respiratory failure, trauma, surgical ICU, post-stroke with lytics, post-craniotomy, septic shock
  • Equipment Used: Baxter IV pumps, Omnicell, PrismaFlex CRRT, Impella, IABP, EVDs, bolt monitoring, ventilators, BiPAP, high flow oxygen
  • Electronic Health Record (EHR): Cerner

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
  • Required Experience: Minimum 2 years ICU experience
  • Must have experience caring for vented ICU patients
  • Preferred Experience: CVICU, Neuro ICU, organ donation, pediatric DKA
  • Required Education: Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Personality Fit: Positive team player

Dress Code

  • Scrub Colors: Galaxy, Royal, or Navy Blue
  • Unacceptable Attire: Hoodies and open-toed shoes

Additional Notes

  • Patient ratios and acuity require strong critical care skills
  • Floating is part of the role and shared among travel nurses
  • No scheduled call but may be on call depending on census
