Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care, offering intensive respiratory care and patient transport as medically prescribed, within the scope of professional license and with minimal supervision. The role involves evaluating patients, recommending treatment plans, and educating patients upon discharge.

Responsibilities

• Conduct physician-prescribed treatments using various ventilatory equipment (invasive and non-invasive), oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizers.
• Perform chest physiotherapy and suctioning using appropriate methods.
• Monitor oximetry and capnography according to policy.
• Review patients’ chest x-rays to assess further evaluation needs.
• Conduct pulmonary function studies and assist with procedures related to respiratory care (e.g., bronchoscopy, chest tube placement).
• Perform tracheostomy care and arterial puncture as per policy.
• Administer CPR according to BLS and ACLS guidelines.
• Record treatments and patient responses accurately on records and charts.
• Maintain ventilatory equipment and ensure proper functioning.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current Respiratory Therapy License.
• Experience in performing respiratory procedures and treatments.
• Certification in BLS and ACLS.
