Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist under the general direction of the Respiratory Therapy Supervisor provides specialized respiratory care to patients. This role requires collaboration with patients, families, peers, physicians, and other members of the healthcare team in delivering care tailored to specific patient needs.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient needs and contribute to the plan of care.
• Implement and evaluate respiratory care regimens consistent with patient needs.
• Document patient care in medical records as per hospital policies.
• Obtain and analyze physiological specimens, interpret data, and perform tests related to the cardiopulmonary system.
• Apply and monitor medical gases, ventilator support, airway management, and pharmacological agents.
• Conduct family and patient education activities regarding disease processes and self-help strategies.
• Maintain current knowledge in Respiratory Care and participate in staff mentoring and orientation.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• BLS, ACLS, PALS certifications (AHA/RQI certs specifically required)
• Previous acute care experience preferred
