Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist ensures that therapy services are rendered in a timely, accurate, and reliable manner for patients, including inpatients, outpatients, and community groups as needed.

Responsibilities

• Administers respiratory therapy procedures as directed.
• Performs various therapies including Aerosol Therapy, CPT/Flutter/PEP Mask therapy, and Incentive Spirometry.
• Manages oxygen therapy, BiPAP-CPAP therapy, and mechanical ventilation.
• Conducts Pulmonary Function Screen diagnostics and fit testing.
• Performs arterial punctures and quality control for the Blood Gas Laboratory.
• Records and reports results of all procedures appropriately.
• Administers BLS for adults, pediatrics, and neonates as necessary.
• Participates in departmental in-service programs and manages healthcare information systems.
• Maintains records and files in accordance with department policies.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Up to three (3) years of experience in critical care.
• New York State Respiratory Therapy Permit or License.
• Registered by the NBRC as a Respiratory Therapist.
• BLS and ACLS Certifications from the American Heart Association.
