Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care, delivering intensive respiratory care and facilitating patient transport as medically prescribed, within the scope of professional license and with minimal supervision. The role involves evaluating patients and recommending treatment plans, explaining the purpose and procedures of treatments, tests, and equipment, and educating patients upon discharge. Key responsibilities include conducting prescribed treatments, operating various ventilatory and oxygen devices, performing chest physiotherapy, suctioning, and monitoring patient parameters.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patient conditions and recommend appropriate treatment plans.
• Explain treatment procedures and conduct physician-prescribed respiratory therapies.
• Operate and maintain various ventilatory equipment and aerosol delivery devices.
• Perform chest physiotherapy to enhance secretion clearance.
• Conduct suctioning and monitor oximetry and capnography according to policy.
• Perform routine reviews of patient chest x-rays and pulmonary function studies.
• Assist in respiratory care procedures such as bronchoscopy and chest tube placement.
• Carry out tracheostomy care and arterial punctures according to policy.
• Document treatment details and patient responses comprehensively.
• Communicate with healthcare professionals regarding therapy efficiency.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

Valid respiratory therapy license and relevant certifications are required.
