Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care by delivering intensive respiratory care and facilitating patient transport within the facility as medically prescribed. This role requires minimal supervision and involves evaluating patients to recommend appropriate treatment plans.

The incumbent will explain the purpose and procedure of treatments, tests, and equipment to patients, along with necessary education upon discharge. Responsibilities include conducting physician-prescribed treatments, operating various ventilatory equipment (both invasive and non-invasive), and administering prescribed medications, humidification, ventilation, and oxygenation.

Responsibilities

• Perform chest physiotherapy and suctioning of patients via various methods.
• Monitor oximetry and capnography in accordance with policy.
• Review patient chest x-rays to determine needs for further evaluation.
• Carry out pulmonary function studies and assist with respiratory care procedures.
• Perform tracheostomy care and arterial punctures as necessary.
• Administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation according to BLS and ACLS guidelines.
• Record all pertinent treatment information, including patient responses, on the appropriate documentation.
• Communicate with attending and pulmonary physicians regarding the efficiency of administered therapy.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current licensing as a Respiratory Therapist.
• Relevant clinical experience in a respiratory care setting.
• Knowledge of various respiratory care procedures and equipment.

Schedule

This position operates on a Day shift with a schedule of 3x12.0 hours.
