Job Description

The Critical Care Nurse provides professional nursing care to treat human responses to life-threatening problems based on the American Association of Critical Care Nursing (AACN) Standards. This includes assessing patient needs, developing a plan of care, implementing nursing measures, and evaluating effectiveness of care for pediatric through geriatric patients. The nurse recognizes cardiac arrhythmias and life-threatening emergency situations, taking appropriate action.

Responsibilities

• Ongoing assessment of all critically ill patients to promote optimal outcomes.
• Conducting comprehensive health history and physical assessments.
• Prioritizing patient problems/needs based on actual/potential threats.
• Developing and implementing a plan of care based on ongoing assessments.
• Managing life-threatening complications per hospital policies and AACN standards.
• Accepting responsibility for maintaining knowledge and skills in critical care practice.
• Ensuring compliance with licensure, certification, and registration requirements.
• Completing mandatory education and participating in annual competency fairs.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

Preference will be given to those with EPIC experience as we transition from Meditech to EPIC on 5/30.
