Job Description

The Registered Respiratory Therapist I (RT-I) is a licensed practitioner responsible for performing respiratory therapy procedures, cardio-respiratory diagnostics, and patient assessment under the direction of a licensed physician. RT-Is assess, treat, and care for patients with breathing disorders, assuming primary responsibility for all respiratory care modalities and supervising respiratory therapy technicians. Responsibilities include initiating therapeutic procedures, maintaining patient records, and managing equipment.

• Initiate and conduct therapeutic procedures.
• Maintain accurate patient records.
• Supervise respiratory therapy technicians.
• Select, assemble, check, and operate respiratory care equipment.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Graduate of an AMA-approved program of Respiratory Care (minimum Associate Degree).
• Active NYS Respiratory Therapist License with up-to-date CE profile free of any disciplinary action.
• At least 3 years of experience as an RRT in an academic medical center environment.
• Both Pediatric and adult critical care skills are highly desirable.
• EPIC EHR experience is required.
• Active Basic Life Support certificate; active ACLS certification preferred.
