This position offers 8-hour shifts, Monday through Friday, rotating through 0630-1500, 0900-1730, and 1100-1930. Weekend coverage and call opportunities are voluntary.
Job Description
The Registered Nurse in Perioperative Services is responsible for providing professional nursing care within the guidelines of the Association of Operating Room Nurses (AORN) Standards. This role encompasses all aspects of patient care from pediatric to geriatric populations throughout the surgical experience.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a plan of care based on ongoing patient assessments.
- Ensure the maintenance of sterile fields and the availability of supplies and equipment.
- Implement perioperative nursing techniques and respond to physiological changes during surgery.
- Provide health education to patients and families regarding surgical procedures and recovery.
- Document patient care and interactions comprehensively and accurately.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Completion of an accredited registered nurse program; BSN preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of prior Operating Room experience required.
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Pennsylvania.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) from the American Heart Association, with renewals every two years.
- Commitment to ongoing education and training in perioperative nursing; in-house Operating Room course available upon hire.
