Job Description
The Registered Nurse (RN) maintains the delivery of quality care by assuring the nursing care plan is followed, while supervising Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and orientees. The RN is dedicated to patient safety and actively contributes to a collaborative healthcare environment.
Responsibilities
- Conduct nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission, forming the basis of an individualized care plan.
- Identify teaching needs and goals related to each patient's diagnosis.
- Provide timely updates on patient information for team conferences.
- Document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately according to policy.
- Engage in the patient rehabilitation program and prioritize education for patients and families.
- Initiate discharge planning and patient teaching from the day of admission.
- Communicate changes in patient status among care providers to support continuity of care.
- Provide direction and supervision to nursing staff, utilizing problem-solving techniques.
- Ensure personal and environmental safety in accordance with hospital policies.
- Participate in team-building activities to foster a positive work environment.
- Maintain communication with management regarding service needs and resource availability.
- Assume charge responsibilities as required after orientation.
- Pursue professional growth and development through continuing education.
- Utilize effective time management and organizational skills to meet patient needs.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- BLS Certification required prior to first shift.
- ACLS Certification required prior to first shift (CIRH ONLY).
- Minimum of two (2) years of bedside clinical experience required.
