Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care by delivering intensive respiratory care and managing patient transport into and out of the facility as medically prescribed. Responsibilities include evaluating patients, recommending treatment plans, and educating patients upon discharge.

Responsibilities

• Conducting physician prescribed treatments using various ventilatory and aerosol equipment.
• Performing chest physiotherapy to promote secretion clearance.
• Executing suctioning using multiple methods, including oropharyngeal, nasal, and tracheal suctioning.
• Monitoring patients through oximetry and capnography as per policy.
• Reviewing patient chest x-rays to determine further evaluation necessity.
• Performing pulmonary function studies according to policy.
• Assisting with respiratory-related procedures such as bronchoscopy and chest tube placement.
• Providing tracheostomy care, including tube insertion and removal.
• Conducting arterial punctures and monitoring ventilation efficiency.
• Performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation adhering to BLS and ACLS guidelines.
• Maintaining accurate respiratory therapy charging, data entry, and correction of errors.
• Communicating effectively with physicians regarding therapy efficiency.
• Documenting all pertinent treatment information and patient responses in respiratory care records.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

Must possess a valid respiratory therapy license and relevant certifications to perform the duties outlined.
