Registered Nurse - Oncology / Hematology

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

Shift: Night, 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM (Block Scheduling is never promised or guaranteed)

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse to join our team in the Oncology, Hematology, Nephrology, Endocrine, GI, Dermatology, and General Medicine unit. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical-surgical nursing with a minimum of 2 years of experience, particularly in oncology settings. The nurse will provide comprehensive care to adult patients, implementing treatment plans and collaborating with healthcare teams.

Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care for patients with diverse medical diagnoses, including cancer, hematological disorders, and other general medical conditions.
  • Administer medications and treatments, ensuring accurate dosages and monitoring patient responses.
  • Utilize specialty equipment including IV pumps, NG tubes, and chest tubes as required for patient care.
  • Maintain detailed patient records and documentation in the EMR system.
  • Coordinate with physicians and multidisciplinary team members to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Participate in patient education and support initiatives regarding treatment plans and care protocols.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York and all requisite licenses.
  • Current AHA BLS and NIHSS certifications.
  • Chemo certification is required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Med-Surg and Oncology nursing.
  • Documentation of travel experience is necessary.
  • Drivers license with an address matching demographics.

The unit serves adult patients (ages 18 and above) across a diverse range of conditions, including oncology, hematology, and general medicine, with a total of 56 beds available for patient care.
