Description
Job Description
The Pediatric Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory RN provides specialized nursing care to pediatric congenital heart patients undergoing diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization procedures. The RN is responsible for delivering safe, efficient, and patient-centered care throughout all phases of care. This role collaborates closely with physicians, anesthesia providers, technologists, and multidisciplinary team members to support high-quality outcomes in a fast-paced procedural environment.
Responsibilities
- Review patient information, allergies, medications, and consent forms.
- Ensure that catheterization procedure rooms are ready with all available medications and equipment, including emergency equipment.
- Coordinate with all team members including physicians, APPs, anesthesia, etc.
- Assist physicians during diagnostic, interventional, biopsy, and electrophysiology procedures.
- Maintain sterile technique.
- Carry out circulating and scrubbing roles.
- Operate POC testing equipment and administer contrast.
- Recognize and respond to emergency situations.
Schedule
This position requires 4 ten-hour shifts per week, from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM. Call is required after one week of orientation, totaling 12-15 days, which includes two weekends per six-week schedule. Call on weekdays is from 5:30-7:00 AM, while weekends are from 7:00 AM to 7:00 AM.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Current PA State Board approved RN license.
- BLS, PALS, and ACLS certifications required.
- Preferred knowledge of congenital heart disease and advanced assessment skills.
- Ability to care for critically ill neonates through adolescents.
Parking
Offsite hospital parking is available for $23 per pay period, with shuttle service provided.
