Job Description
The RN – Nursing Vascular Transplant role involves providing specialized post-operative care for vascular, kidney, and liver transplant patients. Responsibilities include performing hemodynamic and neurovascular assessments, monitoring surgical sites for potential complications, evaluating graft function, and managing labs and fluid balances. This position requires coordination of care with a multidisciplinary team and the administration of immunosuppressants, anticoagulation, and pain management.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and evaluate post-operative patient progress, including vital signs, weight, and fluid balance.
- Perform comprehensive physical and psychosocial assessments.
- Recognize and manage transplant complications such as infection and rejection.
- Administer medications safely, including immunosuppressants and anticoagulants.
- Provide education and psychosocial support to patients and their families regarding lifestyle adjustments and post-operative care.
- Coordinate care with the healthcare team and manage medication adjustments post-transplant.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Active MD RN License (or Compact License).
- ACLS and BLS certifications required.
- Minimum of 2 years of IMC experience, with transplant experience preferred.
- Familiarity with organ-specific diseases and knowledge of immunosuppressive agents.
