Respiratory Therapist

Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care, offering intensive respiratory care and patient transport as medically prescribed, within the scope of their professional license and with minimal supervision. The role involves evaluating patients and recommending appropriate treatment plans, as well as educating patients about their treatments and discharge procedures.

Responsibilities

• Conducts physician-prescribed treatments using various ventilatory equipment, both invasive and non-invasive, as well as oxygen, aerosol devices, and nebulizers.
• Performs chest physiotherapy to promote secretion clearance and suctioning via multiple methods.
• Monitors oximetry and capnography, and performs routine reviews of patient's chest x-rays.
• Executes pulmonary function studies and assists with respiratory care-related procedures.
• Manages tracheostomy care, including tube insertion and removal.
• Conducts arterial punctures and evaluates ventilation efficiency.
• Follows policies related to laboratory testing, including specimen handling and quality control.
• Implements cardiopulmonary resuscitation according to BLS and ACLS guidelines.
• Operates and maintains mechanical ventilation equipment, ensuring accurate documentation of treatments and patient responses.
• Communicates with attending and pulmonary physicians on therapy efficacy and maintains accurate records and charges.
• Participates in preventative maintenance and repair of respiratory equipment.

Schedule

This position operates on a 3x12.0 schedule, with day shifts.

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.
