Job Description
The Operating Room Nurse is a registered nurse who is an integral part of the surgical team, responsible for providing exceptional care to patients throughout the surgical process. This includes pre-operative preparation, intraoperative support, and post-operative recovery. The RN will demonstrate expert knowledge and professional judgment in dynamic environments, tackling unique challenges as they arise.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with surgical teams to ensure the best patient outcomes
- Conduct assessments and prepare patients for surgery
- Assist in various surgical procedures across multiple specialties including General, Orthopedic, Urology, GYN, and ENT
- Utilize EPIC for patient charting and documentation
- Manage surgical instruments and maintain sterile environments
- Participate in postoperative evaluations and follow-up care
- Respond to emergencies and prepared to act quickly as required
Schedule
This is a Day 4x10-Hour shift position: 06:45 AM to 05:00 PM, with one weekend call per month and call once during the week.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Minimum of 5 years of nursing experience, preferably in an operating room setting
- Active RN license from North Carolina or a compact state
- Current certifications in ACLS and BLS are required; PALS certification preferred
- Experience with EPIC charting system is essential
- Previous charge nurse experience is a plus
