Job Description
Under the supervision of the Rehabilitation Services Director, the Staff Therapist is accountable for the administration of Physical Therapy to patients ranging from pediatric to geriatric, with the primary goal of improving the patient's functional ability.
Responsibilities
- Assess and interpret evaluations and test results to meet patient goals and needs, determining physical therapy treatment plans in consultation with physicians or by prescription.
- Administer manual exercises and instruct patients in performing physical activities, including non-manual exercises and daily living activities.
- Administer physical therapy treatments using various techniques and tools, including massages, traction, hydrotherapy, moist packs, and ultrasound machines.
- Evaluate effects of physical therapy treatments and adjustments to prosthetic and orthotic devices based on patient progress.
- Complete discharge planning by consulting with various healthcare professionals and contributing to patient care conferences.
- Ensure continuation of therapeutic plans post-discharge through home exercise programs and recommendations for assistive equipment.
- Document patient care services in patient and department records, maintaining confidentiality of information.
- Comply with infection-control policies and maintain a safe working environment.
- Complete preventive maintenance on equipment and troubleshoot malfunctions.
- Maintain professional knowledge by attending workshops and participating in professional societies.
- Develop and conduct in-service training programs for physical therapy staff.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Possession of a Physical Therapy License issued by the State of Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies.
- BLS certification required.
- Knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of physical and mental dysfunctions.
- Strong understanding of human behavior and performance, including individual differences in abilities and psychological methods.
