Schedule
Rotating Shift - 12 x 3, primarily second shift hours with a mix of 12-hour and 8-hour shifts. Weekends and holidays are required, with an equal distribution among staff.
Job Description
The Computed Tomography Technologist independently performs imaging procedures utilizing established protocols, demonstrating strong judgment and initiative in applying ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes. You will use complex imaging equipment for data acquisition, analysis, and documentation, complete procedures as per protocol, and ensure patient safety and satisfaction during imaging tasks.
Responsibilities
- Perform computed tomography procedures effectively by following established scan protocols.
- Administer contrast media as directed by physician orders and assess patients for potential risks prior to administration.
- Utilize complex imaging equipment and ensure proper techniques in venipuncture and use of power injectors as per departmental protocols.
- Communicate effectively with patients to explain procedures, alleviate fears, and ensure cooperation.
- Identify patients using two identifiers and adhere to universal protocol when performing procedures.
- Document patient history in electronic records as required and ensure accurate coding and tracking of exams.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Graduate of an ARRT approved school of Radiologic Technology or completion of an accredited CNMT program.
- CT registry must be acquired within 18 months of hire or primary registry.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience is required.
- ARRT Certificate and Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification (NMTC) are mandatory.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
- State-specific licensure as applicable for MD and NY.
