Registered Respiratory Therapist - Rotating Shift - 12 x 3

Job Description

Under the general direction of a physician and by prescription, the Registered Respiratory Therapist provides respiratory therapy services and life support to patients with deficiencies and abnormalities of the cardiopulmonary system across all patient populations and service areas.

Responsibilities

• Reads prescriptions and measures arterial blood gases, reviewing patient information to assess conditions and determine treatment requirements.
• Determines the most suitable method for administering inhalants and modifications needed in line with physician's orders.
• Evaluates the appropriateness of medical orders and interprets clinical data to optimize patient objectives.
• Sets up and operates devices including mechanical ventilators and therapeutic gas administration apparatus.
• Monitors and adjusts equipment to ensure specified parameters of treatment and administers gases and aerosol drugs to patients.
• Observes patient physiological responses to therapy and performs bronchopulmonary drainage and breathing exercises.
• Executes pulmonary function tests and consults with physicians in cases of adverse reactions.
• Maintains accurate patient charts and assists in transporting mechanically ventilated patients.
• Responds to all code situations as required.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Graduate of a CoARC approved Respiratory program.
• 2 years of experience required.
• Licenses and Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Registered Respiratory Therapist (RTT), State License.
• NRP may be required for certain facilities.
• Compliance with PA Act 31, PA Act 33, PA Act 34, and PA Act 73.

Schedule

This position is a rotating shift of 12 hours, working 3 days per week.

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.
