Job Description
The MRI Technologist independently performs imaging procedures, demonstrating competency in various technical processes requiring independent judgment and initiative for diagnostic purposes.
Responsibilities
- Practices and maintains MR safety in the department.
- Maintains clinical competency for all exams and equipment.
- Performs procedures for reviewing, processing, and archiving imaging data.
- Prior to starting an exam, reviews and presents all relevant information to the physician based on protocol.
- Identifies all patients properly by using two patient identifiers and utilizes universal protocol when performing procedures.
- Reviews patient history and assesses physician orders, applying departmental protocols for optimal data acquisition.
- Documents patient history in electronic records as required.
- Interacts effectively with patients and co-workers, displaying care, respect, and dignity.
- Works collaboratively with team members within the department and other areas to expedite patient care efficiently.
- Communicates instructions to patients in a clear and concise manner to help alleviate fears and solicit cooperation.
- Ensures exams are properly coded, tracked, and documented in Rad Assessment, and charges are entered accurately.
- Performs other duties as assigned and operates in accordance with system-wide competencies.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Graduate of an ARRT approved school of Radiologic Technology or completion of an accredited CNMT, ARMRIT, or ARDMS program with MR registry.
- MR registry must be acquired within 18 months of the primary registry date or hire date if already obtained.
- 2 years of experience is required.
- Licenses and Certifications: ARRT Certificate, ARMRIT, NMTC, or ARDMS, along with Basic Life Support (BLS) and applicable Acts (PA Act 31, 33, 34, 73).
