Registered Nurse - Palliative Care

Schedule

This is a 13-week contract position with 36 or 48 hours per week, featuring rotating shifts including days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call as needed by the unit.

Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse for our 12-bed unit dedicated to providing intensive symptom management for adult patients at the end of life. The ideal candidate will have excellent IV and wound care skills and be capable of managing complex patient needs and supporting families in crisis. Strong assessment skills are essential to advocate for patients who may no longer be able to communicate their needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients with palliative needs.
• Perform astute assessments and advocate for patient needs.
• Administer medications and manage patient-controlled analgesia pumps.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure optimal patient care.
• Support families during challenging times.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• NYS Registered Nurse License (only New York licenses accepted).
• Two years of recent experience in palliative or acute medical-surgical nursing.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
• Experience with patient-controlled analgesia pumps or CHPN certification is highly desired.
