Schedule
Night shift, 4x12 Hour schedule (18:45 - 07:15). Every other weekend is required.
Job Description
The Emergency Department (ED) Holding unit is seeking a Registered Nurse to support patients waiting for inpatient beds within the hospital. Responsibilities include providing care for medical/surgical adult diagnoses and managing patients with potentially high acuity needs. The nurse will be expected to handle MedSurg/Telemetry cases and may also float to the ED and MedSurg areas as necessary.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care within the ED Holding unit.
- Monitor and interpret telemetry readings as well as manage dysrhythmias.
- Administer medications and blood products as needed.
- Perform peripheral line care and management, phlebotomy, and IV starts.
- Ensure adherence to isolation precautions and other safety protocols.
- Collaborate with Rapid Response Teams for patient emergencies.
- Document patient care accurately in the electronic health record (Epic).
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse is required.
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications are essential; NIHSS certification is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability in MS/Tele, colostomy care, feeding tube management, and renal failure.
- A valid RN license is required; a compact license is acceptable.
