Job Description
The MRI Technologist independently performs imaging procedures, and demonstrates a variety of technical skills requiring independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative for diagnostic purposes.
Responsibilities
- Practices and maintains MR safety in the department.
- Maintains clinical competency for all exams and equipment.
- Prepares for exams by reviewing and presenting all relevant information to the physician based on protocol.
- Ensures accurate patient identification using two patient identifiers and follows universal protocols during procedures.
- Reviews patient history and assesses physician orders, applying departmental protocols for optimal results.
- Documents patient history in electronic records as required.
- Interacts compassionately and respectfully with patients and co-workers, maintaining a high level of dignity and cooperation.
- Effectively communicates instructions to patients to help alleviate their fears, ensuring cooperation during procedures.
- Ensures all imaging exams in the area of responsibility are properly coded, tracked, and archived.
- Performs additional duties as assigned, in accordance with system-wide competencies.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Graduate of an ARRT approved school of Radiologic Technology, or completion of an accredited CNMT, ARMRIT, or ARDMS program with MR registry.
- MR registry must be acquired within 18 months of the date the primary registry was obtained or date of hire if already possessed.
- Two years of experience in a similar role is required.
- Current licensure or certifications: ARRT Certificate, ARMRIT, NMTC, or ARDMS.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Compliance with Pennsylvania Acts 31, 33, 34, and 73.
