Job Description

The Progressive Care Unit (PCU) is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to provide high-quality care for adult patients recovering from traumatic injuries, requiring surgical interventions. This 41-bed telemetry unit is primarily focused on patients who are hemodynamically stable while needing close monitoring and management. The role demands both clinical expertise and compassion, as you will be dealing with patients recovering from events such as gunshot wounds, assaults, motor vehicle accidents, and falls.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive patient assessments and develop appropriate nursing interventions.
• Administer medications and treatments in accordance with established protocols.
• Monitor patients’ vital signs and manage telemetry for up to 14 patients.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy.
• Educate patients and families on care plans and discharge instructions.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, ideally in a progressive care or telemetry unit.
• Current RN license.
• Certifications required: ACLS, BCLS, NIHSS.
• 1 year of experience with Epic electronic medical record (EMR) system.
• Charge nurse experience preferred.
