Job Description

The MRI Technologist independently performs imaging procedures and is responsible for a variety of technical procedures requiring independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative for diagnostic purposes.

Responsibilities

• Practices and maintains MR safety in the department.
• Maintains clinical competency for all exams and equipment.
• Performs procedures for reviewing, processing, and archiving.
• Reads and presents relevant information to the physician prior to the start of exams.
• Identifies patients properly using two patient identifiers and utilizes universal protocol during procedures.
• Reviews patient history and assesses physician orders for optimal results in data acquisition, including the administration of contrast.
• Documents patient history in electronic records as required.
• Interacts with patients and co-workers with a high level of caring, listening, dignity, and respect.
• Works as a team member to expedite patient care efficiently.
• Communicates instructions to patients clearly to help allay their fears and solicit cooperation.
• Ensures all exams are properly coded, tracked, and documented, and that all charges are entered accurately.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Graduate of an ARRT approved school of Radiologic Technology, or completion of an accredited CNMT, ARMRIT, or ARDMS program with MR registry.
• MR registry must be acquired within 18 months of the date the primary registry was acquired or at hire if already obtained.
• 2 years of experience is required.
• ARRT Certificate or ARMRIT or NMTC or ARDMS certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Compliance with PA Acts 31, 33, 34, and 73.
