Description

Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit (NSICU) Registered Nurse (RN)

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

Night Shift: 12-hour shifts from 18:45 to 07:15, with a requirement to work every other weekend.

Job Description

The Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit (NSICU) is a 26-bed unit within a comprehensive stroke center that focuses on various neurological patients. The ideal candidate will possess significant experience in stroke management, intracranial pressure (ICP) management, seizure management, and critical care patient management, including titrating drips and handling invasive equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Care for Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit patients with a focus on critical care needs.
  • Perform ICP monitoring and ventilator management in a high-acuity setting.
  • Administer and titrate various IV drips and medications as required.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams for comprehensive patient care.
  • Float to other ICU and intermediate units as needed.
  • Participate in the management of special procedures, including EVD management and hypothermia protocols.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

  • Minimum of 2 years of ICU nursing experience required.
  • ACLS, BCLS, and NIHSS certifications required.
  • Previous charge experience is highly preferred.
  • Experience with arterial line management, CPAP/BiPAP management, and care of ventilated patients is essential.
  • Must pass EKG testing prior to start.
