Job Description
An MRI Technologist independently performs imaging procedures, utilizing technical expertise and judgment for diagnostic purposes. The role requires maintaining clinical competency, adhering to safety protocols, and effectively interacting with patients and co-workers.
Responsibilities
- Practices and maintains MR safety within the department.
- Performs a variety of technical imaging procedures independently.
- Documents patient history and prepares relevant information for the physician prior to examinations.
- Identifies all patients accurately using two patient identifiers and follows universal protocols during procedures.
- Assesses physician orders and applies departmental protocols for optimal imaging results.
- Communicates clearly with patients to explain procedures and alleviate any fears.
- Ensures all exams are properly coded, tracked, and documented in Rad Assessment.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Graduate of an ARRT approved school of Radiologic Technology, or completion of an accredited CNMT, ARMRIT, or ARDMS program with MR registry.
- MR registry to be acquired within 18 months of primary registry date or date of hire if primary registry is already obtained; other graduates must obtain MR registry within 12 months of hire.
- 2 years of imaging experience is required.
- Valid ARRT Certificate, ARMRIT, NMTC, or ARDMS as relevant.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Compliance with PA Acts 31, 33, 34, and 73.
Schedule
This position operates on a rotating shift schedule, totaling 12 hours across 3 days per week.
