Description

Echocardiography Technologist

Job Description

The Echocardiography Technologist will operate medical imaging equipment that utilizes high-frequency sound waves to produce diagnostic images. The primary responsibilities include obtaining high-quality imaging for Cardiologist interpretation and utilizing the Synapse Echocardiography system for preliminary report writing. This role involves documenting patient care services in hospital electronic medical records and requires compassionate and effective patient interaction.

Responsibilities

  • Operate Echo machines, including echocardiography technique, imaging display, and annotation.
  • Utilize color doppler, power doppler, spectral doppler, and M-mode for imaging.
  • Perform various echocardiography exams including standard, limited, stress, and transesophageal echocardiograms.
  • Evaluate imaging quality for optimal anatomical representation for cardiologist interpretation.
  • Document and charge exams within EPIC system.
  • Manage scheduling and patient prep confirmations for echocardiographic tests.
  • Maintain knowledge of the Synapse system for report completion and send images to PACS.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in echocardiography.
  • BLS certification required within 30 days of hire.
  • Must hold one of the following credentials:
    • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer from the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography
    • Registered Cardiac Sonographer from Cardiovascular Credentialing International
    • Canadian Registered Cardiac Sonographer from the Canadian Association of Registered Diagnostic Ultrasound Professionals
