Job Description
The Registered Nurse (RN) maintains the delivery of quality care by assuring the nursing care plan is followed. The RN supervises Licensed Practical Nurses and Certified Nursing Assistants while participating in the direct patient care process.
Responsibilities
- Perform nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission to develop individualized care plans.
- Identify teaching needs and collaborate with patients and their families throughout the care process.
- Document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and in a timely manner.
- Participate in the patient rehabilitation program, utilizing the nursing process to provide quality care.
- Initiate discharge planning upon patient admission and provide education regarding discharge procedures.
- Communicate changes in patient status to the interdisciplinary team to support continuity of care.
- Supervise and train ancillary nursing personnel, ensuring effective use of time and resources.
- Promote safety within the work environment, adhering to hospital policies and procedures.
- Assume charge responsibility as needed and contribute positively to team dynamics on the unit.
- Engage in professional development through ongoing education and self-study.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Must possess a current RN license.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required prior to the first shift.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required prior to the first shift (specific to CIRH).
- Minimum of two years of bedside clinical experience is highly desired.
- Previous Long-Term Acute Care (LTAC) experience is required.
