Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist provides high-quality care, focusing on intensive respiratory treatment and patient transport as medically prescribed. This role involves evaluating patients, recommending treatment plans, and educating patients about their treatments, equipment, and discharge instructions.

Responsibilities

• Conduct physician-prescribed treatments using various ventilatory equipment, oxygen delivery systems, and aerosol devices.
• Perform chest physiotherapy and suctioning by different methods, including oropharyngeal, nasal, and tracheal techniques.
• Monitor oximetry and capnography, review patient chest X-rays, and perform pulmonary function studies.
• Assist with respiratory care-related procedures such as bronchoscopy, chest tube placement, and tracheostomy care.
• Perform arterial punctures and assess ventilation efficiency and treatment effectiveness.
• Communicate efficiently with attending and pulmonary physicians regarding patient therapy and treatment outcomes.
• Maintain accurate respiratory therapy records and manage equipment setup and maintenance.
• Conduct cardiopulmonary resuscitation according to BLS and ACLS guidelines.

Required Experience

• Current state licensure as a Respiratory Therapist.
• Experience with both invasive and non-invasive ventilation techniques.

Certifications/Licensure

• Current BLS certification.
• ACLS certification preferred.
