Description
Requirements: Licensed as an LPN in the State of Nebraska, BLS issued by American Heart Association, and IV Therapy Certification.
Located on the first floor, 60 bed nursing home
Ratio is 1:20, and care model includes Nurse Assistant and Med Aide. LPN will serve in a Charge or Supervisor capacity as a core responsibility of their role and therefore will not be paid extra for supervising the Nurse Assistants or Med Aides. Utilizes a cart for medication dispensing.
LPN may float to MRSH (Madonna Specialty Hospital). VAU population is PEG (feeding) tubes, tracheostomy, and long term ventilator patients. Respiratory Therapy will manage vents; however, LPN needs to ensure vent is connected and troubleshoot issues. Tracheostomy experience is required. LPN ratio 1:7-8, and care model includes Nurse Assistant. LPN will also be working in TCU (Transitional Care Unit) which is skilled care unit and the ratio for this unit is 1:10 and includes Nurse Assistant in the care model.
Dress code: Any color and brand of professional scrubs may be worn. Madonna-branded tops, including Madonna-branded t-shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies, polos, quarter zips and full zips may be worn with any color scrub pant. No other facility logos should be displayed on scrubs or tops. Departments that require a specific polo color will continue to follow department guidelines. These departments also have the option to wear Madonna-branded clothing in any color.
Charting: Sunrise (created by Allscripts)
Communication: Cisco phones
Schedule: 6 week schedules, with two weekends required every 6 weeks, 12 hour shifts (6:45am-7:15pm or 6:45pm-7:15am), 13 week contracts only, no block scheduling and minimum time off should be requested upon submittal.
Orientation: Occurs twice per month on Tuesday; one at Omaha and one at Lincoln. Madonna prefers that Nurse Assistant attends orientation at the location where they will be working, but will accommodate training at the other location if needed. Classroom orientation Tue & Wed, 8:00am-4:30pm, with 2 orientation shifts on unit. Orientation includes online modules, skills check-off, training on equipment and charting, transfers and positioning.
