Duration = 13 weeks
Shift= 3*12 Nights 36 hours a week

- 874-bed Level I Trauma Center
- Teaching hospital with advanced specialty services
- Certified Chest Pain Center & Stroke Center
- High-acuity patient population
- Traveler radius rule: Must reside 50 miles from facility
๐ Unit Details
- 36-bed MedSurg/Telemetry unit
- Resource Team environment (float support within region)
- High-acuity neuro and spine patient population
- First-time travelers considered (not preferred)
๐ฉโโ๏ธ Patient Population / Diagnoses
- Post-op spinal surgery & spinal fusion (high acuity)
- Stroke, seizures, altered mental status (AMS)
- Myasthenia Gravis
- Brain tumors and neurological conditions
๐ Patient Ratios
- RN: 1:4โ6 (based on acuity)
- Surge staffing may increase up to 1:7โ8
- CNA: Varies by shift and census
๐ Requirements
- Active RN License
- Minimum 2 years MedSurg/Telemetry experience
- Certifications:
- BLS
- ACLS
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
๐ Required Skills
- Cardiac rhythm interpretation
- Stroke and neuro assessment
- Trach care & airway management
- IV starts (PIV) & medication administration
- Chest tube management
- NG/Dobhoff/PEG tube care
- Drain management (JP, Hemovac, Foley, Flexiseal)
- PCA pumps & pain management (including complex cases)
- Post-op spine/neuro care & patient education
- IV drips (cardiac, heparin, blood products, fluids)

- CNAs (variable ratios)
- Charge Nurse (24/7)
- Respiratory Therapy (24/7)
- Hospitalist & Intensivist coverage (24/7)
- IV/Vascular Access Team
- Phlebotomy (peripheral draws)
- No telemetry tech โ nurses monitor rhythms

- Medication Dispensing: Omnicell
- Monitoring Equipment: Masimo & Phillips
๐ Floating Requirements
- Required to float within assigned region (Region 2 or 3)
- May float to multiple facilities within system
- Floating is within scope of practice
- Paid travel time if floating mid-shift

- New Employee Orientation (NEO)
- 2 days unit/department-specific orientation
๐ Scheduling & Policies
- Every other weekend required
- Travelers must work 75% of holidays
- Up to 6 days RTO allowed (excluding holidays)
- Maximum of 2 call-offs per 13-week contract
