Duration: 13 weeks
Shift 12hr Day Shift - 36 Shift Information 7a-7p
On Call, Call Back Requirements None
Weekend Rotation 6 shifts on a 6 week schedule (6 out of 12 shifts)
Holiday Requirements work one shift of each major holiday (Thanksgiving Day or day after 12/24 or 12/25 12/31 or 1/1
Floating Requirements All adult ICU units in house including PCU
Job Summary
Seeking an experienced ICU Registered Nurse for a 14-bed Medical ICU at a Level 1 Trauma and Teaching Hospital. The ideal candidate will have strong critical care experience managing complex, high-acuity patients in a fast-paced team environment.

Unit Details
- 14-bed Medical ICU
- Average census: 14 patients
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:1–2 (occasionally 1:3)
- CNA support available each shift
- First-time travelers accepted
- Floating required to all adult ICU units including PCU
Patient Population
Common diagnoses include:
- Respiratory failure
- Renal failure
- Sepsis
- GI bleed
- DKA
- Stroke
- Pneumonia
- Cancer
- ARDS
- Overdose patients
- Hemodynamically unstable patients requiring invasive monitoring
- Chronic ventilator and trach patients
Required Experience & Certifications
- Minimum 2 years of ICU RN experience
- Active RN license
- BLS required
- ACLS required
- NIHSS required
- CCRN preferred
Required Skills
- Ventilator management
- Trach care
- Chest tube management
- PIV starts
- Insulin, heparin, and vasoactive drips
- Titration of drips to HR/BP parameters
- Management of arterial lines and central lines
- ICP monitoring
- Bedside procedure assistance
- TABLO experience preferred
Technology & Equipment
- EMR: Epic
- IV Pumps: Alaris
- Medication Dispensing: Pyxis
- Monitors: Philips
- Additional equipment:
- Belmont Rapid Infuser
- TABLO
- PCA pumps
- Sequential Compression Devices (SCDs)
- Cooling/heating devices
Department Support
- RT, Hospitalist, and Intensivist coverage 24/7
- PICC team available
- Resource and discharge nurses available
- Central telemetry monitoring
- Unit secretary support
Schedule & Requirements
- 12-hour Day Shift
- 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
- 36 hours/week
- Weekend rotation required:
- 6 shifts every 6 weeks
- Holiday requirement:
- One shift for each major holiday group
- No call or callback requirements
Orientation
- 1 day hospital orientation education modules
- 2 days unit orientation
