JOB DESCRIPTION
Imaging Supervisor
● About Facility:
o How many licensed beds? CMC 874
o Level I Trauma; Level 1 Pediatric Trauma
o Teaching Hospital
o Chest Pain Center
o Stroke Center
● Department Information:
o Average patients/day? 350-400
o How many X-ray suites?
▪ OR: 40 ORs w/ 12 C-arms and 2 O-arms available
▪ Main Level (4th floor): 2 x-ray rooms, 3 fluoro rooms
▪ ED: 2 rooms
▪ 15 Portables
o Minimum Years of Experience required? 2 years of acute care experience. Need some trauma level experience (Level I, II or III with Level I experience being highly preferred).
▪ At least 1 year of leadership experience in radiology (can be Lead Tech, Manager, Supervisor, Director)
o Will you accept a first-time traveler? Yes, if they have they trauma facility experience
● Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:
o Adults and Pediatrics (including neonates) from ED, ICUs, nursing units and outpatients across the full spectrum of radiology exams and diagnosis
o This is a teaching facility, so will see high acuity patients and situations
o Will mainly be in Main Radiology department but could help in other areas including ED and OR. Will carry supervisor phone
● Required License, National Certification, Certs:
o BLS
o ARRT-R
● Skills required:
o General X-ray: imaging of head, neck, spine, extremities, abdomen, hands, feet, chest. Must be comfortable with trauma patients. Portables at bedside
o OR: spinal, ortho, general surgery, neuro, and peds. Need to be comfortable with the majority of these specialties.
o C-arm experience required. O-arm experience preferred.
o EPIC experience required
o Supervisor duties – weekly schedules, assisting with call schedules, working in tandem with other supervisor and leaders, ok being very hands on, escalate as needed and appropriately, adjusting schedules in real-time if needed, address coaching needs in real time and escalating, assisting with onboarding for new employees, comfortable talking with physicians
o Soft Skills: Confident of their clinical skill sets with ability to work in a fast paced, high patient acuity environment. Good communication skills and attitude of helpfulness and teamwork strongly preferred. Depending on experience, could be asked to precept x-ray students.
● Support Available:
o Lead Tech
o Manager during weekdays
o Weekend CT Supervisor
o Management/Leadership available via phone
o Will work with MD residents and fellows
o Always other Rad Techs available:
▪ Days: 22
▪ Mids: 11
▪ Nights: 6
▪ Weekend Days: 12
▪ Weekend Nights: 6
o RT 24/7
o Rapid Response/Code Team
o Radiologists are always on site
o Transporter for the department
● Technology/Equipment:
o EMR: EPIC – required
o Hospital issued shift "Supervisor Phone”
o Department specific Equipment: Shimadzu RadSpeed general rad room, Konica and Shimadzu portables, Philips C-arm, Client O-arm
● Floating: If yes, where?
o No, only to the different areas of x-ray and for portables in this facility
● Orientation (facility and unit):
o NEO: Facility tour, departmental tour with introductions.
o Up to 5 days max departmental orientation but flexible based on needs of traveler
● Scheduling:
o Weekend Rotations: refer to requisition, could be every weekend
o Call requirement: None
o Holiday Expectations: If it is on normal scheduled day, will work it
o Approval of RTO: Manager approval
o Shift times: Refer to requisition for shift/schedule
o Schedule cycle: Traveler contract are 13 weeks and travelers would work the same shift and times as agreed upon in the contract.
● Other notes:
o Scrub Color: Black. Will be provided OR scrubs if assigned there
o Parking: Free teammate parking across several parking decks
o Department Culture: Good teamwork, high clinical skill sets, able to work in fast paced environment.
