Job Title: RN OR @ ASC Germantown - Surg Center
Duration: 13 Weeks
Location: Germantown, WI
Shift: M-F - There is potential to float to any of the 3 other Ambulatory Surgery Centers, as often as is needed and at any point in their shift ▪ AMCG Mayfair – approx. 20 min away ▪ East Mequon – approx. 25 min away ▪ 84 South – approx. 25 min away
General Information
o ORs: 4 Rooms; approx. 20-25 cases per day (Monday-Friday)
o Endoscopy Suites: 2; approx. 12-15 cases per day (Monday-Friday)
o Will you accept a traveler with 1-year experience- Yes
o Will you accept a first-time traveler- Yes
o Permanent staff must wait 6 months to return as a traveler
Patient Types:
o All ages – as young as 12 months
o Patients will be recovered in the same room as their Pre-Op – no true PACU within facility
o Lower acuity/same day surgical cases, to include but not limited to:
Ortho –
Arthroscopy – shoulders and knees primarily (occasionally hips)
Podiatry
General/Urology Gynecology/ENT –
General: hernia repair, appendectomies, laparoscopies
Urology Gynecology: bladder stimulator, mesh slings
ENT: Tonsils & Adenoid removal, Sialendoscopy, tubes in ears
Endoscopy –
EGD/Colonoscopies, Sigmoidoscopy, Bravo Procedures
no pill cams
Interventional Pain Management -
Epidural steroid injections, radiofrequency ablations, cervical lumbar injections
Eyes –
Cataract surgery
No plastics
Patient Ratios:
o Pre-op - 1:1
o PACU/Phase I - 1:1
o Phase II- 3:1
Required Certifications:
o RN :
OR RN – BLS, ACLS, PALS
Pre/PACU RN – BLS, ACLS, PALS
Endo RN – BLS, ACLS, PALS
o Surgical Tech : BLS; no national certification required, only graduation from an accredited program
o Anesthesia Tech : BLS; graduation from accredited program OR training as an Anesthesia tech in some capacity (ex: military training)
o Endo Tech: BLS
o CNA (to work with PACU patients) : BLS, certified CNA
o Sterile Processing Tech : BLS is no longer required, CRCST or CBSPD (strongly preferred)
Skills required:
o OR/Endo RN: Endoscopy experience to include procedural sedation, experience with the above-mentioned patient types, prepping case carts
o Pre/PACU: Pre-Op , Recovery of Phase I & II PACU patients, as well as discharge experience
o Surgical Tech : experience in the above-mentioned cases, prepping case carts
o Anesthesia Tech : assisting with intubation (needs to know how to help the anesthesiologist), room turnover to include head of bed/Anesthesia monitors, proficiency with doing nerve blocks, IV start skills
o Endo Tech : Cleaning, handling & storing of scopes, sterile process techniques, general endo experience to include the above-mentioned patient types
o CNA (PACU): comfortability to assist RN staff in the care of post-anesthesia patients to include but not limited to patient care, vitals, stocking supplies, assisting with discharge, general education
o Sterile Processing Tech : decontamination, assembly, and sterilization experience; experience assembling a variety of sets, inspecting, cleaning, sorting, & wrapping; will not prep case carts

o There is potential to float to any of the 3 other Ambulatory Surgery Centers, as often as is needed and at any point in their shift

Orientation: (facility and unit)
o 1 st day: meet with the Educator – Tour, Mandatory Education Training, Facility orientation
o Unit: paired for first couple of shifts with preceptor – dependent on experience & comfort level
Scheduling:
o Weekend rotation - No weekends. M-F operations only.
o Shift Times:
Pre/PACU RN: 0545-1600
Endo RN: 0630-1530
OR RN: 0600-1530
Surgical Tech: 0600-1530
Anesthesia Tech: 0600-1530
CNA (PACU): 0600-1530
Sterile Processing Tech: 0600-1530
o Will they be on call- If so, what is that schedule- No call requirements
o Holiday Expectations: Closed major Holidays
o Approval of time off- up to 7 days – will need to extend 1 week to end of contract for any full week of RTO
