Job Opportunity: RN Ambulatory - Surgical Center

Position Details

• Employment Type: Contractor
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: 8-hour day shift, Monday to Friday
• Hours per Week: 40
• No weekend or on-call requirements
• Facility operates Monday through Friday only, closed major holidays
• Free parking available

• No cafeteria on site; bring your own lunch

Work Environment

• Ambulatory Surgery Center with:

  • 4 Operating Rooms (20-25 cases/day)
  • 2 Endoscopy Suites (12-15 cases/day)
• Patient population includes all ages, as young as 12 months
• Patients are recovered in the same room as Pre-Op; no separate PACU
• Lower acuity, same-day surgical cases including:

  • Orthopedics (arthroscopy of shoulders, knees, occasionally hips; podiatry)
  • General surgery (hernia repair, appendectomies, laparoscopies)
  • Urology/Gynecology (bladder stimulator, mesh slings)
  • ENT (tonsil/adenoid removal, sialendoscopy, ear tubes)
  • Endoscopy (EGD, colonoscopies, sigmoidoscopy, Bravo procedures; no pill cams)
  • Interventional Pain Management (epidural steroid injections, radiofrequency ablations, cervical/lumbar injections)
  • Ophthalmology (cataract surgery)
• No plastic surgery cases

Patient Ratios

• Pre-op: 1:1
• PACU/Phase I: 1:1
• Phase II: 3:1

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Wisconsin
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 1 year of Operating Room (OR) experience, with recent OR experience within the last year
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
• Endoscopy experience
• Experience with Epic charting system

Additional Roles & Certifications (if applicable)

• Surgical Tech: BLS, graduation from accredited program; experience with listed cases and prepping case carts
• Anesthesia Tech: BLS, accredited program or equivalent training; skills in assisting intubation, room turnover, nerve blocks, IV starts
• Endoscopy Tech: BLS; experience cleaning, handling, storing scopes, sterile processing, and general endoscopy procedures
• CNA (PACU): BLS, certified CNA; assist RN with post-anesthesia patient care, vitals, stocking supplies, discharge, and patient education
• Sterile Processing Tech: CRCST or CBSPD preferred; experience in decontamination, assembly, sterilization, inspecting, cleaning, sorting, wrapping (BLS no longer required)

Orientation & Support

• First day includes meeting with Educator for tour, mandatory training, and facility orientation
• Unit orientation includes pairing with a preceptor for first shifts based on experience and comfort level
• Support team includes Director, Manager, Supervisor, Lead OR RN, and Anesthesia Team

Floating

• Potential to float to any of three other Ambulatory Surgery Centers within 20-25 minutes distance as needed during shifts

Experience Requirements

• Accepts travelers with 1 year of experience
• First-time travelers are welcome
• Permanent staff must wait 6 months before returning as travelers
