Registered Nurse (RN) – Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
Location: Chester County, PA
Unit: Level III NICU
Shift: Three 12-hour shifts per week
Duration: 13 Weeks (if travel contract)
Unit Overview
- Only Level III NICU in Chester County.
- Staffed by neonatal specialists 24/7.
- State-of-the-art neonatal technology and equipment.
- 14 licensed NICU beds with capability to accommodate up to 20 infants.
- Approximately 50 NICU nurses on staff.
- Multidisciplinary team includes Physical Therapists, Nutritionists, Speech Therapists, and Social Workers.
- Caring for premature and critically ill newborns as young as 22 weeks gestation.
- No surgical neonatal patients.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive care to critically ill and premature neonates in a Level III NICU.
- Manage and monitor infants requiring:
- CPAP
- Mechanical Ventilation
- UVC/UAC Lines
- Advanced respiratory support
- Participate in high-risk deliveries and provide neonatal support in Labor & Delivery when needed.
- Deliver family-centered and developmental care to neonates.
- Collaborate with neonatologists, respiratory therapists, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Assess, monitor, document, and communicate patient status effectively.
- Educate and support parents and families throughout the NICU stay.
- Float to Pediatric or Maternity units if required, caring only for newborn patients.
Requirements
- Active RN License.
- BSN required.
- Minimum 2–3 years recent Level III NICU experience.
- Current BLS Certification.
- Current NRP Certification.
- Strong experience with neonatal critical care equipment and procedures.
Schedule & Call
- Three 12-hour shifts per week.
- Every 3rd weekend required (more if willing).
- Every other holiday required.
- No routine on-call requirements.
- Standby process may be utilized if census decreases; nurse must be able to report within 1 hour if called.
