RN Labor & Delivery (L&D) – Woman's Hospital of Texas

Location: Woman's Hospital of Texas
Address: 7600 Fannin St., Houston, TX
Unit: Labor & Delivery (3rd Floor, Main Hospital)
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM

About the Unit

The Labor & Delivery Unit at Woman's Hospital of Texas is a high-acuity, fast-paced obstetrical service dedicated to providing exceptional care to mothers and newborns. The department features 35 beds and is supported by an experienced multidisciplinary team of approximately 160 staff members.

 

Patient Ratios

  • Laboring Patients: 1:1 to 2:1

  • Antepartum Unit (APU): 2:1

  • PACU Recovery: 2:1

Equipment & Technology

  • Hill-Rom Birthing Beds

  • Alaris IV Pumps

  • Client Core Metrics Fetal Monitoring System

  • NOVI Wireless Fetal Monitoring

  • Panda Warmers

  • CADD Solis Epidural Pumps

Electronic Medical Records

  • CPN (Centricity Perinatal)

  • Meditech

Required Qualifications

Must Have

  • AWHONN Intermediate Electronic Fetal Monitoring Certification

  • BLS

  • ACLS

  • NRP

Preferred Skills

  • OR Circulation for Cesarean Sections

  • Placement of Fetal Scalp Electrodes (FSE)

  • Placement of Intrauterine Pressure Catheters (IUPC)

Typical Procedures

  • Vaginal Deliveries

  • Cesarean Sections

  • PACU Recovery

  • Antepartum Care and Testing

  • Continuous Electronic Fetal Monitoring

Unit Protocols

  • Pitocin Administration Protocols

  • Cervical Ripening Policies

  • Magnesium Sulfate Protocols

  • Hydralazine Protocols

  • Labetalol Protocols

Dress Code
