Surgical Technologist – Operating Room (Main OR)

Location: 601 Elmwood Ave, Rochester, NY 14642
Assignment Length: 13 Weeks
Department: Main OR – Operating Room
Schedule: 35 hours/week (12-hour Day/Evening/Night rotating shifts)
Additional Option: Up to 48 hours/week available

Position Overview

The Main Operating Room provides surgical care for a diverse patient population across multiple specialties in a busy Level I Trauma Center. Surgical Technologists work alongside multidisciplinary teams to support a wide range of complex surgical procedures.

• Cardiac Surgery
• Neurosurgery
• Vascular Surgery
• Ophthalmology
• Gynecology (GYN)
• Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT)
• Thoracic Surgery
• Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
• Trauma (Level I Trauma Center)

Advanced Technology & Programs

• Two Da Vinci robotic surgical systems supporting multiple specialties
• Active transplant program including:
  • Liver
  • Kidney
  • Heart

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain the sterile field during surgical procedures.
• Scrub and assist surgeons throughout operations.
• Anticipate surgical team needs and ensure instruments and supplies are available.
• Maintain patient safety and adhere to infection control standards.
• Support a variety of surgical specialties in a fast-paced operating room environment.

Minimum Requirements

• NBSTSA Certification (or 10 years of Surgical Technologist experience)
• Minimum of 2 years of Surgical Technologist experience
• Current BLS Certification (American Heart Association only)
• Ability to scrub independently

Preferred Qualifications

• Operating room experience in a Level I Trauma Center
• Experience working in a high-acuity, multi-specialty operating room
