Description

Job Title: RN – Neonatal ICU (NICU)
Location: Charlotte, NC
Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: 12-Hour Night Shift (36 hours/week) – 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM

Job Description:

  • 247-bed teaching hospital with a Level I Pediatric Trauma Center, Chest Pain Center, and Certified Stroke Center.
  • 53-bed NICU (plus overflow) with an average daily census of 58 patients.
  • Minimum 2 years of strong Level III and/or Level IV NICU experience required. Must be comfortable in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment.
  • First-time travelers may be considered with manager approval.
  • Required certifications: Active RN License, BLS, and NRP.
  • Patient population includes Respiratory Distress Syndrome (RDS), TTN, MAS, Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia, congenital heart defects, PDA, PPHN, seizures, IVH, HIE, NEC, sepsis, NAS, TORCH infections, hypoglycemia, hypothermia, congenital anomalies, and renal disorders.
  • Patient ratios vary based on acuity: 1:1, 1:2, or 1:3.
  • Must have experience with EPIC, critical care vasoactive drips, ART/CVP lines, ventilator and tracheostomy management, HOFV, oral/nasal suctioning, feeding tubes (G-tube/J-tube), chest tubes, sedation and analgesic drips, epidurals, PCAs, Foley catheter management, Alaris and Medfusion pumps, sterile technique, and bedside procedures.
  • Experience with EVDs, Camino device (ICP monitoring), CRRT, ECMO (preferred), discharge education, and invasive line management is highly preferred.
  • Unit support includes 24/7 charge nurses, respiratory therapists, intensivists, IV/VAT team, resource nurses, residents, APPs, centralized telemetry, unit educators, and clinical supervisors.
  • Equipment includes EPIC EMR, Alaris and Medfusion pumps, Omnicell, Phillips monitors, PIV Ultrasound, Tecotherm, and MOMs Breast Milk Scanning.
  • Floating may be required to Neonatal PCU or as a helping hand in Pediatric CVICU, PICU, or General Pediatrics, based on experience and unit needs.
  • Orientation includes general onboarding (NEO) and 2 days of departmental orientation.
  • No on-call required. Weekend rotation includes 2 Fridays, 2 Mondays, and every other weekend during each 6-week schedule. Travelers are required to work holidays as scheduled.
  • Scrub color: Navy. Long-sleeve undershirts must be solid Navy or White. Pediatric-friendly scrub tops only.
  • Must follow "Bare Below the Elbow" guidelines (no watches, rings, permanent jewelry, artificial nails). Free parking provided.
