Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse (RN) to join a high-acuity, fast-paced 18-bed unit. The ideal candidate will have strong critical thinking, patient assessment, and clinical skills to care for medically complex patients who require a higher level of monitoring and intervention than a traditional telemetry unit but do not require ICU-level care.

Required:

• Experience: Minimum 2 years of nursing experience, with PCU experience preferred.

• Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.

• Licensure: Active Pennsylvania RN license or Compact RN license.

• Certifications: BLS/CPR and ACLS required.

• Ability to manage high-acuity patients in a fast-paced PCU environment.

Unit Overview

• 18-bed Progressive Care Unit.

• Typical nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3, depending on patient acuity.

• High patient turnover, with up to 75% of the unit potentially turning over within 24 hours.

• Frequent admissions, transfers, and patient downgrades.

• No floating required 

Scheduling Requirements

• 12-hour night shifts: 7:00 PM–7:00 AM.

• Every third weekend.

• Holiday coverage required based on unit staffing needs; at least one holiday shift is required.

• Extended vacations during the hospital's holiday blackout period ( December 23–January 3) cannot be accommodated. Individual holiday requests off may be considered.

• Orientation is required on November 11, 2026.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is an experienced PCU RN who can manage medically complex patients, maintain a 1:3 patient assignment, respond effectively to changes in patient conditions, and adapt to frequent admissions and transfers. Strong clinical judgment, time management, and communication skills are essential.
