Job Description

Med/Surg Nurses provide direct and individualized nursing care to patients based on scientific nursing principles. Responsibilities include:

• Collaborate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans
• Prepare, administer, and document prescribed medications (oral, subcutaneous, IV)
• Report adverse medication reactions according to nursing policies
• Educate patients on surgical procedures and post-treatment home care
• Record patients’ medical information and vital signs
• Monitor and adjust specialized patient equipment, interpret electronic displays
• Initiate corrective actions for adverse patient symptoms
• Provide bedside care for a variety of medical patients, including pre- and post-surgery
• Assist physicians during examinations and treatments
• Respond to life-saving situations following nursing standards and protocols
• Participate in discharge planning
• Manage time effectively and document care accurately and timely
• May float between multiple campuses depending on census
• Occasionally care for pediatric/adolescent patients (no dedicated pediatric unit)

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Wyoming
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• PALS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing

Additional Notes

• Candidates may occasionally care for pediatric/adolescent patients
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required
