Job Description
The PACU Registered Nurse is responsible for providing care to Post Anesthesia Care patients. This role involves working closely with Surgeons, Anesthesiologists, Surgical staff, and other personnel. The nurse will utilize the Nursing Process in accordance with the state Nurse Practice Act, AORN guidelines, and hospital policies. Key responsibilities include:
- Demonstrating critical thinking, scientific judgment, and leadership for safe delivery of care
- Maintaining clinical competencies through continuing education
- Delegating patient care priorities based on staff education and experience
- Providing direction and supervision to assigned personnel delivering patient care
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Arizona
- Minimum 2 years of PACU (Post Anesthesia Care) experience, including experience within the last year
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Shift Details
- 3 shifts of 12 hours each: 05:45 - 18:00 and 07:45 - 20:30
- On-call requirements: one 12-hour call shift (18:00 - 06:30) and two 24-hour call shifts on weekends (06:00 - 06:00) every six weeks
