Registered Nurse - Cardiac Observation Unit

Location: Tucson, Arizona
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

As a Registered Nurse in the Cardiac Observation Unit, you will provide high-level care for patients before and after cardiac catheterization procedures. Responsibilities include:

Evaluating assigned patients and planning, implementing, and documenting nursing care
Assisting physicians during examinations and procedures
Performing patient tests and administering medications within RN scope of practice
Preparing patients for cardiac catheterization and cardioversion procedures
Recovering patients post-procedure who have received conscious sedation
Sedating, circulating, and documenting bedside procedures such as Transesophageal Echocardiography (TEE) and Cardioversions (CV)
Discharging patients with appropriate teaching and documentation

The unit cares for high-risk, high-acuity patients and performs bedside procedures including TEE and CV.

Shift Information

Varies: 3 shifts of 12 hours each (day shifts starting between 6:00 AM and 8:30 PM)
Call requirements include weekends (Saturday and Sunday) on a rotational basis approximately once every 4 to 6 weeks
Weekend call hours: Saturday 7:00 AM–5:00 PM, Sunday 7:00 AM–2:00 PM

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Arizona
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Minimum 1 year of Electrophysiology Lab experience within the last year
ACLS certification
BLS certification
Experience in Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)
Telemetry experience
Cardiac Catheterization Lab experience
