Registered Nurse (Cardiac Observation Unit) - Travel Assignment

Location: Tucson, Arizona
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

As a Registered Nurse in the Cardiac Observation Unit, you will provide high-level care for patients undergoing cardiac catheterization procedures. Responsibilities include:

Evaluating and planning nursing care for assigned patients
Assisting physicians during examinations and procedures
Performing patient tests and administering medications within RN scope of practice
Preparing patients for cardiac catheterization and cardioversion procedures
Recovering patients post-procedure, including those who had conscious sedation
Performing bedside procedures such as Transesophageal Echocardiography (TEE) and Cardioversions (CV)
Discharging patients with appropriate teaching and documentation

The unit cares for high-risk, high-acuity patients and performs bedside procedures requiring close monitoring and skilled nursing care.

Shift Information

Varies: 3 shifts of 12 hours each (day shifts between 6:00 AM and 8:30 PM)
Call requirements include weekends (Saturday and Sunday) on a rotational basis approximately once every 4 to 6 weeks

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Arizona
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Minimum 2 years of Electrophysiology Lab experience, including experience within the last year
Cardiac Cath Lab experience
ACLS certification
BLS certification

Notes

Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
The role involves working with high-acuity cardiac patients and requires comfort with bedside cardiac procedures and sedation monitoring.
